"Coming Home" Quilt Show

The Arts Team is excited to bring our first art show since 2019 to celebrate our return to the church. The walls will be hung with beautiful quilts that tell the stories of our families and friends.

After nearly 18 months apart, we came back together in person in June. Coming home, returning, being together has been so difficult during the pandemic and is now so welcome. Our beloved quilts evoke that sense of being with our loved ones once again.

Twelve quilts ranging from over 100 years old to one created just 20 years ago are on display in the sanctuary. Each quilt has a story. One fun quilt is made of grandpa’s ties. Another turns a mother’s old dresses and sack cloth into a beautiful quilt that looks like a garden. One particularly fine quilt tells the story of an epic family journey across the country to California. A lovely “Cherry Basket” quilt is actually a mystery with the maker’s names written on different squares. This show is one to enjoy, reminding us of the importance that these special familial quilts have in our lives.

The Church will be open for the show from noon to 4 pm on August 7-8

Thank you to everyone who reached out with their quilts.
