As in the past, we will collect supplies to distribute to foster families who have taken on the additional financial responsibility of equipping those in their care for the school year, as well as to families receiving services through the Vermont Department  for Children and Families.

Last year’s drive-by collection was so successful, we’re following a similar model this year. We’ll gather in the parking lot after the service and you can transfer your donation directly from your car to Diane Thompson’s Subaru for delivery. If you are not at church, you can drive by before 11:30 and drop off our donation in the parking lot.

In keeping with the tradition of blessing the donations, Reverend Mark will “bless a backpack” during the service.
 
Our contact at DCF in Barre has reached out to local foster parents to ascertain the greatest needs.  Here’s what they suggested:

• Backpacks;

• Crayons, markers, pens and pencils, colored pencils, white- erase markers;

• Pencil case;

• Scissors;

• Folders;

• Index cards;

• Water bottle;

• Lunch boxes/bags/containers, especially for the younger children;

• Construction paper;

• Gift cards to Staples.

If you are unable to attend church or drop off during that time, please contact Susan Graham at sgraham@madriver.com, or 802-279-1117, to arrange for either a pick up, or to drop the items off on Susan’s porch prior to the 8th.
