Serving the Community
The Waitsfield United Church of Christ (for convenience referred to as “WUCC”) continues to live into its stated mission of Living, serving and walking by faith for the benefit of the local and global community.
WUCC believes in caring for its community. That manifests in many ways, including financial and hands-on.
Loads of Love
‘Loads of Love’ is a nationwide initiative that helps community members pay for their laundry at a local laundromat.
On Wednesdays from 4 -6pm, anyone can come by Waitsfield Laundromat and receive money toward their laundry. WUCC volunteers provide detergent and quarters for the washers & dryers.
When: Wednesdays @ 4pm - 6pm ~ Location: Waitsfield laundromat
Hungry Bags
Every year, members of the Waitsfield Church fill “Hungry Bags” with items currently needed at the local community pantry. Regular brown grocery bags are distributed with lists of needed items stapled to the outside. A couple of weeks later the food is brought forward (often over 40 bags full!) during worship, blessed and then the Hungry Bags are delivered to the food shelf. The collection typically include food & personal care items.
If you miss one of our designated collection Sundays, contact the Church office at 802-496-3065 and ask where you can deliver your donations.
As an active member of the The Mad River Valley Interfaith Council , the WUCC supports these local missions:
Thanksgiving Baskets
The Thanksgiving Basket Food Drive includes collecting, organizing donations and delivering the baskets to local families.
Joys of the Season
Local families receive vouchers to shop at local businesses. The program is funded by donations from individuals in cooperation with community businesses.
