We are a congregation that welcomes all people without prejudice and we pray that together we will be open to the movement of God’s Spirit and recognize that God is still speaking in our lives and the world around us. The UCC & Still Speaking
In the United Church of Christ, we believe that Jesus Christ is the head of the church and that scripture is the inspired word of God. We are a denomination with roots in the “covenantal” tradition which means that each congregation has its own autonomy. There is no other hierarchy that determines the path or faith of individual congregations. However, we are in covenant with our Denomination through our local Associations, the Conferences and National Church setting. We covenant to be in relationship with one another and others in the broader community and the world while faithfully proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ through various outreach ministries, worship and education.
In the United Church of Christ we believe in the Freedom of Conscience which means that we are free to understand scripture and the leading of God’s spirit as it is revealed to us. We hold dear the motto of our founding theology that: “ in essentials unity, in nonessentials diversity and in all things love.” We also respect the church creeds and confessions which were written by our ancestors and see them as testimonies of faith rather than tests of faith.
