One of the major ways the Waitsfield Church supports our community is by partnering with local ministries and organizations. These organizations provide many ways for individuals and groups to serve and to share the love of Christ in the Mad River Valley. Together we can change lives!

Mad river valley Interfaith Council

The Waitsfield UCC is an active member of the The Mad River Valley Interfaith Council. The MRVIC is a nonprofit group that serves the people of the Mad River Valley through outreach and fostering of unity and understanding in God’s love.

The MRVIC depends upon the gifts of congregations and individuals to sustain the requests that are presented to us each year.  The council operates the Community Pantry and Food Commodities program and assists people in emergency situations through limited financial grants and guidance.

Those in need of assistance can contact any of the Valley Churches or Faith leaders and they will provide guidance as to what services and assistance can be offered in a specific situation.

Mad River Community Fund

The Mad River Valley Community Fund is a non-profit organization which responds to the needs of Mad River Valley residents.

PINS (Partners in Service)

The PINS (Partners In Service) Program is a partnership between the Waitsfield UCC and the Department for Children and Families, Family Services Division, in Barre.

Our church, along with other churches in Washington County, participates in a wide range of programs that often cover gaps between what Family Services is able to fund, and the actual needs of the families they serve.

Annual events include our Holiday Gift Giving and School Supply Drive.  Throughout the year, Family Services will notify us of special requests or emergency needs, and we will ask our congregants for items such as household supplies, furniture, or even money towards summer camp tuition to fulfill the request.  Whatever the need, we try our best to make it happen.

Community Service Team (CST)

If you are wishing you could seal up your windows better for winter or need assistance weather-stripping doors to keep out the draft…or…if you are just in need of some general home maintenance help, you are invited to call the Community Service Team (CST) of the Mad River Valley.  CST is a volunteer group that will help folks who need assistance in taking care of general household repairs.  Its focus is on assisting people who cannot afford to have paid contractors repair their homes.   While labor is donated, the homeowner is responsible for the cost of supplies. If this is a hardship, other avenues may be available for obtaining supplies.

The CST is led by members of the broader community and sponsored by the Waitsfield and Warren United Churches of Christ.  If you or someone you know can benefit from this type of assistance, please contact us.
