Story Time...it's not just for Children.

A story; a story. Let it come; let it go.

Pretty much every Sunday in worship, I like to read a children's book. In the same way it isn't your father's Oldsmobile, these aren't your children's children's books. So-called "children's" books are now quite mature, and explore real-word issues from loss and death to the coronavirus to the climate crisis. And yes, they are still a lot of fun, too.

Why do I do this? Children's books are another window into the themes of the Biblical text we engage each week. They deliver a message - sometimes a hard one - in a medium that is less threatening, and thus more easily engaged. Children's books are a combination of three of my great loves: art, poetry, and story. They are also short in length, which is great for this pastor's attention span. And yes, they are still a lot of fun, too.

Because if we do not become as children, we shall not enter the Kin-dom of God.
