Joining us VIRTUALLY

Dear Church,
I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits. Like so many, Elizabeth and I have been at home this past week, and we are grateful for all those carrying out the essential work that allows the rest us to take the space needed to stay safe. Here are updates on a few of our ministries:
Given the realities of the pandemic, we will be gathering virtually on Sunday mornings until further notice. This week, I will be leading from home, and I hope you can join me. There are several different ways to tune in:
  • Zoom Video: This is the best way to join because it allows us to interact. You can offer a prayer request during our Joys and Concerns or make an announcement after worship. There’s also the added benefit of seeing one another’s faces! Here’s the link: PW: 948036
  • Zoom Audio: This allows you to interact through your phone. Although you won’t see faces, you will still be able to offer prayers and announcements. For this option dial 929 205 6099 and then enter our meeting code 5729925681#.
  • MRVTV: This option is new this week. MRVTV will be broadcasting worship live on channel 44/244 and airing re-runs throughout the week. This is another great way to tune in.
This week I will continue to host Bible Study (Tuesday 9:00am-10:00am) and Office Hours (Tuesday 7:30am-9am and Wednesday 2pm-4pm) via Zoom. The link and phone number above work for all of our church gatherings, not just worship. All are welcome. I will continue to add times and opportunities for us to join together to accommodate folks’s different schedules.
This week in Bible Study, we will review Psalms 1-41 and focus specifically on psalms of complaint.
Children and Family Ministries
We are working on finding solid faith resources for children at home. Here is a fantastic one from Illustrated Ministries with a short lesson, activities and coloring sheets based on this week’s scripture:
I’m also hoping to launch a story time with faith-based books over video. Let me know if you’re interested, and I’ll pull together a time.
Parish Care
Parish care has not taken a hit over this past week. The Parish Care Team met last Sunday night via Zoom and is reaching out to our members and friends with cards and calls. Many of you are already doing this work on your own. This group is meeting again on Sunday night. If you’re interested in joining, please reach out to me.
I am also working with the Interfaith Council and the Community Fund to meet the needs of the broader community. If you find yourself in need of help or just someone to talk to, please give me a call.
As you can see, WUCC is moving ahead during this anxious time. Given that this looks to be more of a marathon than a sprint, we will move calmly and deliberately by focusing on what’s most important. We will continue to adapt and evolve to meet the needs of our community. We will continue to hold each other lovingly in prayer.
Be safe. Be well. Be kind.
