Weekly News and Notes

March 16, 2016

Lenten Greetings WUCC Family and Friends,

On Sunday morning we invite you to join us as we begin worship with a triumphant Palm procession with the children. This will remind us of Jesus entry into Jerusalem and the excitement people felt for the good news Jesus proclaimed to all the people.

Although we open worship with great joy, the Palms are soon left behind as we face the struggles of what it means to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, listening to the passion narrative of Holy Week. This is a powerful and challenging part of our faith story. The good news is that with the challenges come hope, strength and courage. We invite you to join us and discover deeper meaning on the way to the cross and ultimately the joy that comes with an empty tomb come Easter morning.

See you Sunday,

Nancy

Important Note: Please see Grant Award information on the Web site’s new page Capital Campaign. This will provide information and clarity about the difference between the additional projects we will pursue with the grant money and those that are part of the current Capital Campaign.

*Church World Service Blankets: Every Easter we collect funds to give to Church World service for their emergency relief programs. We specifically collect to help provide blankets to those in the midst of natural disasters and other traumatic events in which CWS is involved. Each blanket is $10.00 and is very warm and durable. Our generosity to this mission program is greatly appreciated. Think warmly this Easter.

Planning Ahead: This July 9th when we host the water station at mile 19 for the Mad Marathon, Nancy will be on Sabbatical. Therefore we are looking for someone to help Ann Eardensohn with organizing volunteers, setting up and breakdown. It is a great day with lots of fun. Contact Rev. McHugh if you can take the lead with Ann.

Adult Discussion Group:

The Adult education group will not meet this week but will meet April 17th and 24th.  Everyone is welcome to these conversations of faith.

New Members:

We will be receiving new members on April 10th.  If you have an interest in joining with this congregation or simply in finding out more information, please contact Rev. Nancy McHugh as soon as possible.  We look forward to this joyful event in the life of the congregation.

Vermont Conference of the UCC Annual Meeting:  April 29-30, Peggy Stokes and Rev. Nancy McHugh will be attending the Annual meeting at Lake Morey.  We look forward to coming back and sharing with you all the exciting things that are going on in the Conference.
